Record-setting fires in 2017 and 2018 ravaged northern and southern California with roughly 8.8 and 10 million acres burned, respectively. As the 2019 wildland fire season approaches, effective RT-130 training and prevention tactics are key in preparing firefighters for the threats to come.

TargetSolutions and IAFC VCOS Now Accepting Nominations for Training Officer Recognition Award

This is the sixth consecutive year the VCOS and TargetSolutions have joined forces to acknowledge an exceptional training officer with this prestigious award. By recognizing a training officer for their innovation in training and effectiveness in their department, TargetSolutions and the VCOS are also furthering their own primary missions of improving the safety and effectiveness of fire service members when called into action.

“It is an honor for the VCOS and TargetSolutions to recognize the dedication and accomplishments of Emergency Services Organization Training Officers again this year by awarding the Training Officer Award,” said VCOS Board Member Norvin Collins. “This award allows peers to select a Training Officer that embodies the spirit of all great trainers through their work locally, regionally, and/or nationally.

Amarillo Fire Department Utilizes Innovative Inspection Software by TargetSolutions

For the Amarillo Fire Department (TX), inadequate documentation of routine apparatus, equipment and gear inspections have had costly consequences.

When the Texas Commission of Fire Protection (TCFP) informed the department that their potential fines for incomplete inspections totaled to $250,000, the AFD decided it was time to invest in a more effective and cost-efficient solution.

Although starting out with another electronic inspection system, Halligan, which was acquired by TargetSolutions’ parent company Vector Solutions in February of 2019, was recommended to the department and was implemented in December 2018. In the few short months, the AFD has already made strides in ensuring all their daily inspections are performed and tracked.

Enhanced NFPA 1001 Online Courses in TargetSolutions’ Firefighter Training Catalog

TargetSolution’s online firefighter course catalog features more than 250 hours of comprehensive training for the fire service. Part of this training library is TargetSolutions’ NFPA 1001 series with courses highlighting crucial topics for Firefighter I & II awareness and refresher level courses according to NFPA codes and standards.

Two courses in this series, NFPA 1001 Rescue and Extrication and NFPA 1001 Loss Control, have been updated to include more engaging lessons and interactions.
